Heavyweight AI, Lightweight Footprint: The New WeAct N006 Robot & Drone Carrier Board

Building autonomous drones or agile robotics usually means playing a brutal game of tug-of-war. On one side, you need massive AI compute power to handle real-time computer vision and mapping. On the other side, every extra gram of hardware drains your battery and shortens your flight times.

WeAct Studio is tackling this head-on with its latest release: the WeAct N006.

This ultra-compact carrier board is engineered specifically to host the high-performance NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX (8GB or 16GB) System-on-Module (SoM). It unlocks up to 100 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second) of raw edge AI processing power while keeping the footprint remarkably small.

Credit-Card Sized, Robot-Ready

The standout feature of the WeAct N006 is its tight, deliberate design optimization for tight spaces.

  • Ultra-Compact Profile: Measuring just 90 mm x 60 mm, it is barely larger than a credit card.
  • Featherweight Build: Weighing in at a mere 57.8 grams, it slots perfectly into payload-sensitive setups like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and small robotic chassis.
  • 40W "Super Mode" Ready: The power delivery network is rugged enough to handle high-performance operation modes, ensuring your Jetson SoM never chokes when running heavy sensor fusion models.

Connectivity Packed Edge-to-Edge

Despite its micro footprint, WeAct didn't strip away the essential input/output ports. The N006 manages to pack a comprehensive vision, storage, and networking array directly onto the board:

  • Dual Camera Interfaces: Equipped with two MIPI CSI lanes for plugging high-quality digital cameras straight into your vision pipelines.
  • Dual M.2 Storage: It features two separate M.2 slots (Key-M) dedicated to high-speed NVMe SSDs, so your local machine-learning data and video logs have plenty of bandwidth.
  • High-Speed Peripherals: Includes a blazing-fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (yielding up to 10 Gbps transfer speeds), twin USB 3.1 ports, and a Gigabit Ethernet jack.
  • Wireless Expandability: Features a dedicated M.2 Key-E slot ready for standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards.

Industrial-Grade Robotics Communication & Power

For industrial, vehicle, and outdoor robotics, consumer-grade power plugs simply won't cut it. The N006 drops standard barrel jacks in favor of reliable, heavy-duty connections.

  • XT30 Power Delivery: Utilizes a secure, locking XT30 connector (commonly found in RC and drone battery setups) supporting a flexible input range of 16V to 28V (ideally optimized at 24V).
  • Hardware Interfacing: Features a dedicated CAN bus connector alongside two UART connectors, making it simple to link the board directly to automotive sensors, flight controllers, or motor drivers.
  • Built-in Circuit Protection: To protect your expensive Jetson module, the board features robust, integrated safety defenses against overvoltage, undervoltage, overload, and accidental reverse-polarity (plugging the battery in backward).

Ready for CAD and Prototyping

WeAct Studio is positioning this board as a frictionless drop-in choice for engineering teams. To streamline custom enclosure manufacturing and chassis layout designs, developers can request a full 3D step model of the board straight from the manufacturer.

If you’ve been searching for a way to ditch bulky development kits and scale down your edge AI project into a production-ready autonomous machine, the WeAct N006 clears a direct path.
